Disabled, but not different
Bartosz, Mariusz, Karol and Magdalena stood in front of the camera and took part in the promotional spots of the social campaign entitled "I am only disabled". They are all the debuting actors from the Occupational Therapy Workshop.
The spots were recorded on the stage of the Ostrów Cultural Center and are one of the elements of the social campaign “I am only disabled". Before, on the streets of Ostrów Wielkopolski had appeared billboards with slogans such as "I just don't hear", "I just don't see".
- The people with disabilities from Ostrów Wielkopolski every day prove that it's just a disability. They work, pursue their passions and take part in social life. We want everyone -including people with disabilities - to notice it. I believe that this campaign is the first step towards changes for all of us - emphasizes Sebastian Górski, deputy mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
As part of the project, four clips were created. Each of them shows that people with a disabilities can also follow their dreams and passions. Magdalena Czernia has been blind since birth. She is one of the actors of the movie. She is a girl that plays guitar. In the spots we can also see Bartosz Szulc, Karol Korzepa and Mariusz Kamiński.
As part of the campaign, in the streets of Ostrów Wielkopolski appeared billboards and posters with slogans such as "I just don't walk ... and you shouldn't care!" . The originator of slogans is Dariusz Peśla, a disabled resident of Ostrow who works for people with disabilities.
Others elements of the campaign are also pink bicycles that appeared in a public space. They are supposed to draw attention and remind that disability does not define anyone.
In Ostrów Wielkopolski there are around 7,000 people with disabilities. Every tenth of us is such a person. They suffer mainly from dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system, vision defects and intellectual disabilities.
The campaign "I am only disabled" - TV spots, billboards, leaflets, meetings of disabled people with residents" is a part of the project "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City", which is implemented with the participation of funds obtained by the city from the Mechanism of the Financial European Economic Area under the "Local Development" programme.
The project's partner is the Ostrów’ citizens for Children of Special Care Association.
