Workshops for students
24-03-2023
Over a thousand students from Ostrów’s primary schools took part in unique workshops. The workshops were organized in in secondary and technical schools. They were addressed to students from the 7th and 8th  grades. Their main goal was to get to know the profession and the secondary school "from the inside".
The city  has received over PLN 200,000 to organize the workshops. The funds came from the European Economic Fund, as part of the "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City" project and from the state budget as part of the "Local Development" program. The project's partner was the Ostrów Wielkopolski County / Powiat Ostrowski/.
The workshops were divided into: construction, floristic, hairdressing, culinary, photography, cosmetics, fashion and mechatronics classes. During the workshops, the students  made pizza, baked cookies, set the table. The most popular classes among youth were the technical ones. A wide range of topics allowed young people to take part in, among others: locksmith, electronics, computer, renewable energy, motorcycle, refrigeration, construction and carpentry courses.
- The workshops showed students, in a very practical way, what is it to learn a  profession. We donated over PLN 200,000 to secondary schools to organize these classes. Our common expectation was to turn this funds into interesting and inspiring professional workshops. I consider that we’ve achieved our goal. More than 1,000 students from  primary schools took part in the classes over the course of three days. The workshops gained great approval and recognition among teachers and school principals, but most of all among students. Many of them emphasized that such practical classes scored a bull's-eye  - says Sebastian Górski, deputy mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
The workshops lasted three days. The students could choose the two workshops they were most interested in. Classes were organized in all secondary technical schools in the Ostrów district. Participation in the workshops for students was free of charge.
The classes were held as part of the Be PRO project - modular workshops on vocational pre-orientation for primary school students of the city of Ostrów Wielkopolski. It was possible  to organize it thanks to the  money obtained by the local government from the European Economic Fund, as part of the project "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City" and from the state budget as part of the "Local Development" program. The city received over PLN 200,000 to organize the workshops.
In total, more than 1,000 students took part in the workshops. Classes were organized in six secondary schools in Ostrów Wielkopolski: the Complex of Economic Schools, the Complex of Transport and Electrical Schools, the Complex of Service Schools, the Complex of Construction and Energy Schools, the Complex of Technical Schools, the Complex of Secondary Schools, but also in the Continuing Education Center in Przygodzice. Some of the classes were also held at the Practical Training Center. These were the first workshops of this type addressed to young people from the 7th  and 8th  grades of primary schools in Ostrów.
