New electronic boards of the Passenger Information System will soon appear at stops in Ostrów. There will be 11 of them in total. These are boards that display the MZK bus timetable. The investment cost will amount to almost PLN 720,000. The contract for the implementation of the task was signed with the contractor, Mikołaj Kostka, deputy mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.

- First of all, it is a complement to our Passenger Information System. A system that has been greatly expanded, especially in recent years, and serves passengers of our public transport, making it easier for them to travel. There will be new boards, we will also replace the most worn ones - explains Mikołaj Kostka, deputy president of Ostrów Wielkopolski.

Of the eleven new boards, six will replace the existing ones, the next five will be built in completely new locations - at the stops at: Krotoszyńska, Poznańska, Paderewskiego, Kordeckiego and Śmigielski streets.

New boards of the latest generation will replace the old ones at Raszkowska and Marii Konopnicka streets. Two boards will be replaced here, one per street. Wrocławska and Głogowska.

The purchase of the boards is the result of a task carried out in the city entitled: Development of low-emission public transport - construction and modernization of transport infrastructure. This task, in turn, is covered by the project "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City" co-financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the state budget from the Local Development program. In total, the task cost almost PLN 720,000. The funding amounted to 85% from EEA funds and 15% from the state budget, respectively.

The investment contractor has six months to complete the task.

Today, there are a total of 40 electronic boards in Ostrów Wielkopolski, which show the location and departure time of MZK buses on an ongoing basis. All boards are double-sided. The oldest ones are already 10 years old.

- New electronic boards are one of the elements of modernizing our urban transport. The most important thing, of course, is the safety and comfort of passengers, which we build by purchasing modern, zero-emission rolling stock. In a moment, 16 such buses will be traveling around the city. We purchased 6 new electric buses. We are also building new bus shelters, including green shelters. We are setting up new stops in places where they have not existed before - says Mikołaj Kostka.

After these investments are completed, in a few months, Ostrów Wielkopolski will be able to boast one of the most modern communication infrastructures in Poland.

All the above-mentioned activities are the result of the previously mentioned task: Development of low-emission public transport - construction and modernization of transport infrastructure, as part of the project "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City" co-financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the state budget from the Local Development program.
