Primary School No. 1 in Ostrów Wielkopolski is getting more and more beautiful. For 9 months, the facility has undergone a thorough renovation. A large gymnasium and adjacent rooms are already ready. The effect of the work is impressive. The school regains its splendour, and with it ideal learning conditions. The investment will cost over PLN 12 million.
The first renovated classrooms at the school are an excellent preview of what the facility will look like after the renovation is completed. The rooms are modern and beautiful. There is no trace of old and dilapidated interiors in them. As part of the works, the window and door woodwork will be partially replaced, and the following will be new: heating, electrical, sanitary sewage, air-conditioning, monitoring and lighting systems.
Primary school number 1 is one of the largest schools in Ostrów, but also one of the oldest, which is why such a thorough renovation was a necessity.
- It is difficult to talk about a renovation in this case, we are actually carrying out a comprehensive modernization there. Only the walls remain, while everything that constitutes the entire interior, e.g. installations, windows, doors, thermal insulation of the walls and roof will be built from scratch. What is important, an elevator will be installed in the school, which will definitely improve communication, especially for people with disabilities. Another important task within this investment is the installation of a small photovoltaic farm on the roof of the facility. Thanks to this solution, the facility's energy needs will be largely met with green energy. The facility will therefore become environmentally friendly and much cheaper to operate - emphasizes Beata Klimek, Mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
The work is very advanced. 70% of them are already done. Renovations will gain momentum during the holidays, all in order to carry out as many of them as possible outside the school year. According to the schedule, the modernization is to be completed at the turn of September and October.
Modernization of the Primary School No. 1 building is carried out thanks to co-financing from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the state budget under the Local Development Programme. This is one of the investments of the "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City" project.
