Two new kindergartens in Ostrów Wielkopolski won the title of the Economic Event of the 2022 year. The winners of the 29th Ostrowianin Roku Award ware announced.
Kindergarten No. 2 “Jarzębinka” at Staroprzygodzka Street and Kindergarten No. 12 “Tęcza” at Dobra Street are new points on the educational map of the city. These two investments were awarded with the title of the Economic Event of the 2022 year.
- In 2022, we opened two new kindergartens. Today hundreds of kids from Ostrów Wielkopolski attend these kindertens. I am glad that Ostrów's investments have been appreciated in this prestigious Awards. At the same time, I would like to congratulate Andrzej Leraczyk who won the title of the Ostrów Wielkopolski Citizen of the 2022 year. For many years Andrzej Leraczyk has been “Ostrów’ Minister of Culture”, the long-term head of the City Department of Culture and animator of the Chopin’s movement. In 2019, the year when Andrzej has retired, the city awarded Andrzej Leraczyk with the Pillar of Culture Award. Andrzej Leraczyk still devotes himself to what he loves most: the culture of Ostrów Wielkopolski – says Beata Klimek Mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
Andrzej Leraczyk is still called "Ostrów's Minister of Culture”. He had a huge influence on Ostrów’ culture. He has been managing the City Department of Culture for over 40 years.
The new “Jarzębinka” and “Tęcza” kindergartens were opened in autumn 2022.
Nearly 300 attend the “Jarzębinka” kindergarten. It was built in passive technology, i.e. energy-saving and maximally environmentally friendly. For the youngest and teachers, we have created a 12-ward facility with rooms for a speech therapist, a nurse, an administrative and social section, a secretary's office, and a well-equipped kitchen. In the building there are changing rooms, storage rooms, restrooms and a beautiful playground that fits perfectly into the spatial layout of the new building.
This unique kindergarten was built in less than a year. It cost nearly PLN 14.5 million. It was created with the participation of funds obtained by the city from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area as part of the Project "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City". This is financial aid from our friends - donor countries, which are: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. We also do not forget about the financial contribution from our state budget.
“Tęcza” kindergarten is also a large building. It cost over PLN 15 million. The kindergarten was created for almost 300 children, including children with disabilities and the youngest residents of our city, who received their own nursery section.
The rooms are equipped with great equipment that will support the development of children, there is a wonderful playground, there is also a modern kitchen, and the entire facility is adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
- Each of the awards and distinctions for our activities in the city is a confirmation that we are going in the right direction. Thank you for each of them. Today, new kindergartens with spaces prepared for the youngest residents of Ostrów are filled with their laughter and joy. And this is the most beautiful award we can receive - emphasizes Vice President Sebastian Górski.
The results of the competition were announced during the final gala on Friday, March 24 at the Ostórów Culture Centre. The event was financially supported by the City of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
