Kindergarten like a dream

Kindergarten number 2 Jarzębinka in Ostrów Wielkopolski is officially opened.  It represents a very modern design, equipment and space. It is a perfect place for children to learn and play. The construction of the kindergarten lasted less than a year and cost nearly PLN 14.5 million.

-    Children and teachers have for their disposal a very modern building  with the necessary, fully equipped facilities. I’m sure that that the next, youngest citizens of our city will have a great place to learn and play. This kindergarten is extremely innovative, built in technology that has not been used in Poland before. It is a passive, energy-saving building, and therefore also very educational when it comes to ecological activities - emphasizes Beata Klimek, Mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.

Up to 300 children can find a place to learn and play here. The kindergarten is composed of 12 departments (with a bathroom, cloakroom and storage facilities). Each classroom has a direct exit to a wonderful and large playground. The equipment of the kindergarten is completely new, i.e. furniture, toys and teaching aids. Each of the rooms is equipped with modern audiovisual equipment, including a “magic carpet”. The kitchen and related facilities are also noteworthy. High-class catering equipment guarantees the preparation of meals at the highest level.

- Ostrów Wielkopolski has not had such a kindergarten yet. It is so unique because it is built in a technology that has never been used in any facility in Poland: very passive and energy-saving. We used here, among others, renewable energy sources and rainwater retention tanks - emphasizes Mikołaj Kostka, deputy mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
The new kindergarten has an area of over two thousand square meters. In addition to spacious rooms, there is also a speech therapy room, a nursing room, storage and social rooms. The construction of a kindergarten is one of many tasks carried out as part of the Great City Development Program until 2023.

- The kindergarten makes a huge impression, very positive, but also a bit surprising, because we’ve been monitoring its construction from the very  beginning, i.e. from laying the foundation stone, through all subsequent stages, to today's ceremony. However, we are most happy with the happiness of children - emphasizes Sebastian Górski, deputy mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.

The construction of the kindergarten cost PLN 14.5 million. The investment was financed with the help of funds obtained by the city from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area under the project "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City". The investment was also co-financed from the state budget under the Local Development Programme.

- During the opening of the kindergarten, we planted four rowan trees, as the name of the kindergarten is “Jarzębinka” / “*Rowan”/. The four trees symbolize four countries: Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Poland. The first three countries are donor countries which, in addition to our state budget, financially supported the E-Ostrów2050 project - says Beata Klimek, Mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.

The consortium of Ostrów-based companies NAT-BUD Zbigniew Warga and FHU were responsible for the implementation of the investment. Adam Jańcik's BIO-KLIM. The construction of the kindergarten started last fall. The head of kindergarnten no. 2 is Beata Kieliba.
