Parking in the city center will soon be easier. The construction of a parking monitoring system has started. This solution will help drivers find a free parking space faster. The investment will cost almost PLN 1.7 million and is entirely financed from the European Economic Area and the state budget. Money - obtained by the city as part of the project entitled "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy and Economic City".
Special sensors are being installed in parking spaces, which will inform whether the space is free or occupied. The data will be collected by the telecommunications network and forwarded to information boards. In total, 1,000 such sensors will be installed in six parking lots and 5 information boards in Ostrów Wielkopolski.
- We focus on innovation and solutions that will make the everyday life of our residents easier. This system is another step towards an intelligent and friendly city - emphasizes Beata Klimek, mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
The investment will cost almost PLN 1.7 million. It is worth emphasizing that the city does not contribute even a penny to this investment.
The task is entirely financed from the European Economic Area and the state budget. The city obtained money as part of the project entitled "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy and Economic City".
- The guidance system for available parking spaces is another element of Smart City. Ostrów Wielkopolski has been successively introducing further intelligent solutions for several years. These include very intensive activities related to the modernization of lighting infrastructure - roads and parks. The next task is metering at Wodkan - i.e. remote meter readings. Ostrowski Zakład Ciepłowniczy also conducts specific activities related to network measurement, which allows for quick and efficient diagnosis of heat losses or failures. It is also monitoring air quality - says Mikołaj Kostka, deputy mayor of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
For the purposes of the investment, a telecommunications network will be built, which may be used for further intelligent solutions in the future.
The parking space monitoring system is to be ready by the end of 2023. The investment is carried out by the winner of the tender: Emitel S.A.
This is another of the tasks of the Great City Development Program until 2023. The investment is implemented thanks to co-financing from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the state budget under the Local Development Program as one of the investments of the "E-Ostrów 2050 - Ecological, Energy, Economic City" project.
